As I’ve mentioned a couple of times i was down in Philadelphia for the 7th Annual Roots Picnic  – there’ll be more on that later, I promise. In any case the great folks of OkayPlayer shot shot live footage of what was probably one of the most amazing live hip-hop moments I’ve been blessed to see: Snoop Dogg with the Roots backing him. In my mind it goes up there with seeing the Talib Kweli, Q-Tip and the Roots do classic A Tribe Called Quest songs; The Roots with Raekwon; the Pete Rock and CL Smooth reunion; and Das EFX in Queensbridge Park last year . .  .

Most of Snoop’s set with the Roots centered around his extraordinary debut Doggystyle and naturally it included this footage of “Gin and Juice,” which is among one of my favorite Snoop Dogg songs ever.
