“Ballad of the War Machines” is the latest single from electronica trio, Midnight Juggernauts, and it’s probably the purest “pop” song the band’s released to date – once you hear it, it has elements of 60s psychedelica along the lines of the Doors, the Animals and others. The song is accompanied by one of the most surreal videos you’ll ever see. Shot on the streets of Moscow, and spliced with the grainy 80s footage of a Soviet, state-run music program, it has actually confused Americans who think they’re watching some obscure bit of Russian/Soviet pop music. Some Russians have thought that it was video shot of a Western band touring Moscow – but then they notice the small details that seem totally off. And yet, the song burrows into your consciousness.
