Comprised of Michael van Putten, Marcel Jongejan and Adrian Hogervost, the Utrecht, The Netherlands-based trio of Stillwave have developed a reputation both across their native Netherlands and internationally for a sound that possesses elements of alt rock, New Wave, post-punk and shoegaze paired with a vocalist, whose vocals uncannily sound like David Bowie. Their latest single “From Here” is a moody bit of shoegaze that consists of lush guitar work fed through subtle layers of reverb, trance-inducing yet propulsive drumming, gently swirling electronics and interestingly enough, the song sounds as though it could have been on a Bowie album – perhaps Lodger. In any case, the track may arguably be one of the prettiest songs they’ve released to date.
