Essay: Midterm Elections 2026/Vote!

IMG_0364

Rego Center Mall 10/27/26: I voted — and I voted early. In New York State, early voting continues until Sunday, November 1 with Election Day on Tuesday, November 3.

If you’re eligible to vote, and haven’t yet, and live in NYC, check our NYCVotes.org for your polling place, what’s on the ballot and more. If you’re not in NYC, your area should have a similar website. Spend some time researching the candidates, their positions and the ballot measures. And then, get out there and vote.

Democracy ain’t a spectator sport y’all. You have to keep as informed as you can. It means writing, tweeting and calling your local officials, and showing up to their town halls. It means getting others out there to vote. Sometimes it means hitting the streets and protesting. For some of us, it means running for office.

We can’t take our rights tor granted y’all. Please vote! Elections have generational consequences — especially locally. Politics are local and personal.

Many of us will be spending the bulk of our days pushing and fighting to get it right. There’s a lot of work to do. And it’s all hands on deck. So, vote like your life and the lives of the most vulnerable people of your life are on the line. Make your voice heard.
