Last Wednesday, I was at Sullivan Hall to catch Linus the Moon and Anna Rose (who as you may know i interviewed as part of my Q&A series back in January). Linus the Moon sounded pretty good but I can’t say I was super impressed. Their sound reminded me at times of Purple and Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop-era Stone Temple Pilots and Buckcherry – but without much of the sleaze.
I was much more impressed with Anna Rose’s set. One particularly memorable highlight was a slowed down, bluesy and seductive cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Manic Depression.” But most of her set was of her material – the majority from her forthcoming album, Behold A Pale Horse .
