Live Concert Photography: Barry Adamson
Rough Trade
March 21, 2016
Barry Adamson is a British-born singer/songwriter, producer, composer, filmmaker and bassist, who has been a member of Magazine, Visage, The Birthday Party, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, as well as a renowned solo artist; in fact, his I Will Set You Free was one of my favorite albums of 2012 –and “Destination” was one of my favorite singles that year. Now, it’s been some time since we’ve heard from Adamson — in 2013, Adamson rejoined Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds for the recording of Push the Sky Away and he’s been busy composing soundtracks and other projects; however, this year marked the release of his latest effort, Know Where to Run, an effort that has Adamson pushing his sound in different directions as the album’s material possesses elements of film noir, old-school-leaning pop standards, jazz, dub, trip-hop and indie rock.
Adamson played a solo set at Rough Trade, which included material from his latest effort and it included some material from his previous recorded output — namely album title track “The Sun and the Sea” off the aforementioned I Will Set You Free. Check out some photos from the set below.
