If you’ve been frequenting this site over the past few months, you may recall that the folks at Speak Into My Good Eye (SIMGE) in partnership with Ridgewood, Queens-based music venue  The Footlight have begun to host a carefully curated live showcase in which SIGME along with three other NYC Metropolitan area-based bloggers/editors feature artists and bands that each blogger/editor has championed — with each blogger/editor having a short DJ set to introduce the artist they’ve cosigned for the night. Now, as you may know, I took part in the first one several months ago and have since covered Blox Cord 2, which featured SpowderA Deer A HorseMean Siders and Beechwood; and Blox Cord 3 last month (a very busy month for me personally and professionally), which featured up-and-coming indie bands, The ’94 Knicks, Scam Avenue and Desert Sharks. Check out some photos from the show below.

Opening the night, the Brooklyn-based indie rock quintet, The ’94 Knicks, currently comprised of  Ben Sacks, Sam Braverman, Mark Laura, Inna Mrktycheva, and James Gibson III, specialize in what they’ve dubbed as “chug rock.”

Scam Avenue is a Brooklyn-based quartet, whose sound draws from 80s New Wave and Brit Pop but with a contemporary flourish, while being influenced by Saint Etienne, Goldfrapp, Ladytron and other pop-leaning electroclash artists.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to catch the night’s headliner as I had to finish packing for my trip to the Netherlands that weekend, but the last act I saw was the Brooklyn-based quartet Desert Sharks. Comprised of Stephanie Gunther (vocals, bass), Stefania Rovera (guitar), Rebecca Rose (drums) and Sunny Veneiro (guitar) the Brooklyn-based quartet specialize in a garage rock/surf rock/punk-rock leaning rock.
