Over the last few years, garage rock and psych rock has seen a resurgence in popularity both across the country and globally. I think of Austin, TX’s the Black Angels; Chicago, IL’s Secret Colours and White Mystery; Brooklyn’s Raccoon Fighter and in particular, Brooklyn-baesd trio Painted Zeros is a recent entry into the garage rock/psych rock scene.

“Jaime” is the latest single of the band’s forthcoming album Svalbard and in some way the track bears a resemblance to Raccoon Fighter’s ZIL but more unhinged, scuzzier, louder, noisier. In some way, once you hear this track, it shouldn’t be surprising that the band claims Pavement, Yo La Tengo, Pixies and others because it burns much like the work of those beloved bands.
