Photography: Ace Hotel 12/31/23

Up until last night, I didn’t have a firm plan on how I was going to bring in 2024. A friend of mine mentioned a free party at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn. The flier said that the night’s four DJs would be spinning disco, house music, 80s and 90s hip-hop — on vinyl. When I saw that, I was like “That sounds like that’ll be a good time.”

The night’s DJs were on fire the entire time I was there. At one point, my friend and I were singing along to The Police‘s “When The World Is Running Down, You Make The Best Of What’s Still Around.” Somehow that song seems to be theme of whatever this near apocalyptic bullshit we’re facing, huh?

At one point during the night, I went to the bathroom and the artwork on the walls caught my attention. It reminded me quite a bit of Philadelphia‘s Magic Gardens, actually.
