Up until last night, I didn’t have a firm plan on how I was going to bring in 2024. A friend of mine mentioned a free party at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn. The flier said that the night’s four DJs would be spinning disco, house music, 80s and 90s hip-hop — on vinyl. When I saw that, I was like “That sounds like that’ll be a good time.”
After several hours of dancing, I noticed that the Ace Motel had an installation that seemed inspired by childhood books and fairy tales, including this fairy tale castle. For some reason, I was immediately reminded of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood and King Friday XIII.
