Photography: George Floyd Anniversary and Free Palestine Protest 5/25/25
A few years ago, I briefly met George Floyd’s brother Terrance at a temporary installation at Union Square — on what turned out to be George’s birthday. Terrance is a couple of years older than me, and he reminds me of brothers I went to school with or brothers I know from the neighborhood. And so does George.
Sunday was the fifth anniversary of George Floyd’s murder. I couldn’t help but think of my brief encounter with Terrance Floyd — and of the Floyd clan. I wanted to do something, even if it was small for people who reminded me of me, and my dearest and beloved ones.
There were demonstrations and protests across the country, including here in NYC. With cameras and press card in hand, I went out to document it — while the free press is a still a thing.
