Photography: Hands Off NYC 2025
About a week or so ago, I came across a Black photographer who posted something on Threads that not just caught my attention but expressed something I recently felt. He said that — and I’ll be paraphrasing here — that for Black photographers this moment is important. We’re living with an administration that’s trying to erase our history and presence. It’s imperative to document the big moments and the mundane. If we don’t, we risk the future not knowing what happened. And the future will never know we were here and mattered.
I went to the Hands Off march here in town with what that brother posted in my mind. I’m not letting anyone erase my presence, nor yours. We’re here now and we matter. This is way too important.
There’s a long fight ahead y’all. There’s too much to lose. Keep going
