Demain, je me réveilerai
Dans un vent qui décoffe
Dans un ciel ori . . .

– Frais Dispo “Dire je t’aime au téléphone”

Tomorrow, I’ll wake up in a wind that tousles my hair
In a golden sky . . .

Québec is an odd, breathtakingly beautiful, singular place. The sort of place, where the heavens and earth sometimes seem to meet.

Years ago, the official provincial motto and nickname was “la belle province.” I’ve seen the place from the air, on foot, in cars and on busses, and I can tell you this: they weren’t wrong y’all. I must add this” Québecers are fittingly a singular people for such a singular place: an odd, tough, crazy, lovable sort. So many of them have been curious, welcoming, friendly and incredibly kind to me, a man from far away.

I’ve been in the province four times in the past seven or eight years. Québec and its people will forever hold a place in my heart. Je t’aime Montréal. Je t’aime Rouyn-Noranda. Je t’aime Québec.
