Earlier this month, I was at Coney Island for the 41st Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade, the neighborhood’s beloved celebration of all things summer — and the beach.
At one point, a brief and very odd burst of torrential rain opened up on everyone on the boardwalk. I couldn’t get to any cover quick enough and my cameras got wet — to the point that they stopped working for a bit. My Canon 77D is shot. (That wasn’t terribly surprising. I had been having issues with it for a while: The shutter curtain was hopelessly stuck. And I’ve had it for over 5 years.) My Canon 6D Mark II managed to recover, and I was even more than thrilled to capture this shot of Luna Park‘s entrance at dusk, as proof that it didn’t completely die and ruin what was supposed to be a great weekend.
