Plateau Mont Royal 9/2/26:
Je reviendrai á Montréal
Dans un grand Boeing bleu de mer
J’al besoin se revoir l’hiver
Et aes aurores boréales
J’ai beaoin de cette lumiére
Descendue droit du Labrador
Et qui fait neiger sur l’hiver
Dans la silence de l’hiver
Je veux revoir ca lac étrange
Entre le crystal et le verre
Oú viennent se poser des anges
Je reviendrai à Montréal . . .
Robert Charlebois “Je reviendrai à Montréal”
I will return to Montreal
In a great sea-blue Boeing
I need to see winter again
And the northern lights
I need that light
Descending straight from Labrador
And making snow fall upon the winter
In the silence of winter
I want to see that strange lake again
Somewhere between crystal and glass
Where angels come to land
I will return to Montreal . . .
There are a handful of places I’ve traveled to that have just felt like home: Chicago, Philly, Amsterdam, and Montréal. I only had about 18 hours in town before a 9 hour bus ride to Rouyn-Noranda, so I made the most of it: Wandering through the gorgeous Plateau Mont Royal neighborhood on a late summer afternoon, saying hello to local cat and a much-needed stop at La Banquise for poutine before checking into my room.
