Visual artist Sherwin Banfield recently created a statue dedicated to the G.O.A.T., LL Cool J. Currently located at David Dinkins Circle at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, the statue, which will be on display until next November was installed as the legendary Queens-based artist was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
The statue featured a Kangol hat wearing bust of LL Cool J on top of a boom box that has a cassette tape of the artist’s full-length debut Radio. Sadly, the audio portion might not have been working; but the statue captures one of hip-hop’s legends and celebrates him in his home borough. Long live hip-hop! Long live the G.O.A.T!
