The first major snowstorm in the NYC Metropolitan area in some time started today. I hadn’t left the apartment in a couple of days and was feeling restless. So I layered up — 7 layers, y’all! — and went for brief walk with my Canon R6 Mark II.

With most of the businesses in the neighborhood closed because of the weather, it was pretty quiet and surprisingly peaceful. I saw a couple of young kids being dragged in sleds by their parents. A couple of teens were out roughhousing.

But mostly, it was a surreal sense of quiet that reminded me of life in the city during the early days of the pandemic.
