Photography: St. Mark’s Place

The other day was a lovely Spring day and I wound up meeting up with a friend in the East Village/Lower East Side. Admittedly, being in that part of town as a 40-something is a bit dizzying because there’s very little around that’s familiar; in my conversation with my friend, I was telling her about all the places I used to go to and loved that have now been long closed. Oddly, Bull McCabe‘s is still around, so there’s that, i guess?

I’ve been carrying my camera around most places these days, and naturally, I wound up taking some pictures. Check it out.

Caption: If you’re in the East Village and don’t have a photo of the Astor Place Cube, have you been in the East Village?

Caption: Hot pretzels and Guinness, Bull McCabe’s Irish Pub. Although most bars and patrons hate what people have jokingly dubbed “Cuomo Chips,” state mandated food for you to get a drink, I have to admit salty pretzels and beer — in this case, Guinness — on a gorgeous day is just perfect. Also notice that the salt to pretzel ratio is just right for you to want more beer. Genius!
