A dear friend of mine recently bought a DSLR camera — her first! — and she wanted to begin playing with it. So we went to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park for an afternoon of shooting and offering some mild tutoring here and there. Of course, I had my trusty and beloved Canon 6D Mark II, and it gave me an opportunity to revisit and even re-do some shots I took earlier this year.
The day ended with a stop at The Lemon Ice King of Corona. It’s summer after all — and that’s what you do. Stopping there brings back some very fond memories of childhood. Their ice features bit of nuts in the pistachio, fruit in any of the fruit-flavored ones, chocolate and so on. I can’t remember what my folks used to get but I almost always got the grape ice — still do all of those years later.
