Photography: The Rocket Thrower, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park 7/6/25
The Rocket Thrower is one of my favorite statues in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. It was specifically created for the 1964’s World’s Fair and much like the rest of the fairground’s remaining structures, captures a sense of hopefulness — in science, in space travel, in people finally finding peace through understanding and cultural exchange. What a shame that we haven’t lived up to that.
