Last night, I went to The Sultan Room at The Turk’s Inn in Bushwick to catch Montreal-based psych rock outfit Elephant Stone and local post punk outfit Activity. (More on that a bit later.) The Sultan Room doesn’t have a photo pit, so I showed up for doors to get a good spot for photos. But doors were a bit delayed — and the staff suggested that I could go upstairs to their rooftop: They had an early afternoon, black LGQBT+ party. The DJs were dope and the crowd was fun. If I didn’t have the show, I probably would have stayed longer, despite the heat.
While upstairs, the sign below caught my eye — and for all the reasons it should.
