New Audio: The Healing Power of Horses Share Slinky “i wait, i sink”

The Healing Power of Horses is a mysterious and emerging East Anglia, UK-based duo, who defy easy categorization, as they prefer. They’ve spent too much time in the attic making music and not enough time outside, and as a result, they’re pallid, bug-eyed, knock-kneed and on and on.

The duo caught the attention of Los Angeles-based section1, who signed the UK-based duo and released their debut single, “i wait, i sink.” “i wait, i sink” is a slinky and sultry bit of Garbage-like trip hop that rattles, shakes and stomps about the room before fading out into the ether. Their debut single showcases a remarkably self-assured outfit that can craft a brooding yet sexy tune with incredibly catchy hooks.

New Video: RIP Magic Shares Woozily Claustrophobic “Screwdark”

Rising London-based quartet RIP Magic — Marco Pini, Felix Bayley-Higgins, Beth Boswell-Knight and Pedro Takahashi — recently signed to section1, the Los Angeles-based sister label to Partisan Records.

The British-based quartet’s signing to section1 is part of a breakout year that has seen early, word-of-mouth momentum turn into something much more tangible. Following last June’s self-released double single “Loot”/”Dox,” RIP Magic quickly built a reputation as one of the UK’s most compelling new live acts, balancing their own frequently sold-out headline shows with festival sets and opening spots for Tame Impala, Fcukers, Fakemink and others,

Late last year, the London-based outfit shared, the James Murphy-produced “5words,” which came out as they were opening for LCD Soundsystem. Building upon a growing national and international profile, RIP Magic’s latest single “Screwdark” is a dense, woozily claustrophobic tune that’s one-part brooding and eerie Portishead trip hop, one-part frenzied, Beck and Beastie Boys-like sample fest that’s both club and festival friendly and prefect for late-night headphone listening.

The new track comes as the rising act is opening for Tame Impala’s sold-out arena tour of Europe, and fittingly, the accompanying video directed by Velcro captures the band while in tour, edited in a frenetic fever dream of places, shows, people and experiences.

New Video: Rising Barcelona-born, London-based Artist Eterna Shares Woozy and Brooding “Highbury Grunge”

Rising Barcelona-born, London-based artist Eterna recently signed to section1, who released his attention grabbing label debut “Perfect Comms,” and its follow up “Whatever Reason,” an eerie, post-punk-meets-shoegaze-like take on goth that saw the him weaving murky, reverb-soaked guitar distortion with lyrical themes that touch upon modern isolation, apathy and ephemeral romance — with a frustration and despair that feels all too familiar.

The Spanish-born, British-based artist’s highly anticipated sophomore studio album Debunker is slated for a January 31, 2025 release. The forthcoming album’s lead single “Highbury Grunge” continues a run of eerie and off-kilter material that’s simultaneously alien and familiar. Anchored around distorted layers of chugging, reverb-drenched acoustic and electric guitars and industrial clang and clatter, the slow-burning “Highbury Grunge” serves as a brooding and woozy bed for the rising Spanish-born, British-based artist’s imitably distracted and detached delivery.

Directed by Really Sorry, the accompanying video is shot in black and white, and through a series of split screens, follows Eterna as he wanders around suburban London — sometimes with an unsettling and uncomfortably close close up. The video further evokes the woozy and brooding nature of the song.
