The Brooklyn-based indie electro pop duo Beacon have won quite a bit of attention across the blogosphere for material lyrically that seems to burrow into the dark places of regret, temptation, obsession and shame that are often the result of the festering confusion between lust and love. Sonically, those dark places are heightened with arpeggio synths and a sparse minimalist, which evoke a sense of lingering anxiety – and in a way that can be unexpected and troubling, much like the ghosts that frequently haunt and inhabit our lives …

“Fault Lines” the first single off the duo’s forthcoming EP titled, L1 manages to be the warmest, densest and most club-readysong they’ve released to date as it’s comprised of layers of cascading synths, skittering percussion and Mullarney’s falsetto crying into the void – and they do so while still evoking the same unsettling regret and shame.
