As much as one can love their own hometown, there’s occasionally a brief flicking moment in which you’d honestly want to see it all burn in a gigantic conflagration. Don’t lie, folks; thought has crossed your mind at least once. So with that in mind, Motive is one of those rare bands that have gained the attention of MTV2‘s 120 Minutes with Matt Pinfield, and the New York Times – while being unsigned.

Their latest single “Burn Down Brooklyn” creates the sort of hellish of eternal damnation that feels familiar – it’s reminiscent of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” and several other songs off Superunknown. No, it doesn’t sound like them; it just bears a lyrical resemblance. Still, the song kicks ass.
