Brooklyn-based band Ski Lodge recently released their first single, “Just To Be Like You,” which sounds quite a bit like the Smiths – beautifully jangling guitars, and deceptively sad and forlorn. The official video for the track follows a hood-wearing cult and it includes a near drowning-like baptismal ceremony of a pledge who was coaxed to join by his girlfriend. Luckily, the video’s hero suspects, then recognizes that their drinks are laced with poison, allowing the couple to flee. A PSA against the groupthink perhaps?
