Cascine Records have developed a reputation for signing and releasing work from artists who specialize in a very particular sound – a slickly produced synth pop that owes a great debt to 80s R&B and 80s pop with a contemporary twist. And they continue to cement their reputation for sugary sweet pop confections with the latest single “Golden” from their most recent signings Brett. Interestingly, thanks to the pulsating synths and drum machine programming reminds me a little bit of very early Depeche Mode, and of the Pet Shop Boys – but as though they were covered by St. Lucia. In other words, the song has an anthemic soaring quality that will probably remind you of some of your favorite summer-time jams.
