Comprised of Bei Yan (vocals, synth) and Tony Bertaccini (drums), the Portland, OR-based drum and synth duo Wishyunu (pronounced wish-u-new) originally began as a noise and improv project back in 2008, and over the years they slowly morphed into a psych pop act. “Photoplay,” the first single off the duo’s recently released Photoplay 7 inch, is a hazy, fever dream of a single comprised of layers of gently buzzing and undulating synths and propulsive drums paired with Yan’s ethereal vocals floating through the mix in a gorgeous and hauntingly eerie fashion. The track evokes fog gently settling in and enveloping the horizon before your eyes.
