Deep Sea Diver originally began as frontwoman Jennifer Dobson’s solo, songwriting vehicle when drummer and future husband Peter Mansen, and bassist John Raines joined her in 2009. After the release of the band’s debut EP, New Waves, the band toured with Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band. In addition to that Dobson has been a member of the touring bands for artists such as Beck, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and in the newest incarnation of the Shins

And although the band’s debut full-length History Speaks was released early last year, touring to support the debut effort was put on hold while Dobson was touring with the Shins – until now.

The band was invited to record a live session of their material on Seattle’s KEXP 90.3 and the material manages to have a haunting beauty that’s kind of reminiscent of Stevie Nicks and others.
