Each of the members of the New Royales hails from a different country of the world, Liz Rodrigues, who leant her vocals on Eminem’s “Survival,“ is Portuguese; DJ Khalil, who has worked with Jay Z,Dr. Dre, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Aloe Blacc, is American; Canadian multi-instrumentalist Eric Alcock and Chin Injeti have co-written with Pink on her multi-million selling album, Truth About Love, with Pitbull on his Can’t Stop Me Now and “Survival,” off Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP 2.
The band’s forthcoming effort, Freedom’s For The Brave: The Mixtape has the band covering songs from some of their influences, including Depeche Mode, the Zombies, Jefferson Airplane and others. Whereas, their rendition of the White Stripes “Fell In Love With A Girl” removes the guitars for buzzing, pulsating synths, and club-ready beats. their rendition of the Monks “Drugs In My Pocket” buzzes with a subtle sense of menace and playful snark and manages to be a bit more straightforward.
