French producer Jerome Ettinger has devoted himself and his career to exploring, preserving and spreading the sounds of the traditional music of Egypt. Assembling several world-class Egyptian musicians, Ettinger’s Egyptian Project fuses electronics with the the traditional sounds of Egypt in a way that sounds both ancient and modern. “Ya Sabhi,” is the latest single from the act’s debut effort, Ya Amar, and in some way it sounds as though it were mixing trip hop with the call of the muezzin.

The video for the single has a devastating simplicity – it shows off the graffiti that Cairo’s protestors painted on the walls throughout that great city. If you consider the fact that the artists risked their lives to express the demands and plights of their fellow countrymen, it makes the act of creating art as revolutionary as it should be.
