James Mathé writes and performs under the moniker of Barbarossa. The recent release of his latest album, Bloodlines represents a change in sonic direction for  Mathé as he went from being an acoustic singer/songwriter in the troubadour on his critically applauded debut to crafting a sound with shuddering electronics with hauntingly soulful falsetto, as you’ll hear on Bloodlines’ latest single “Pagliaccio."

Pagliaccio interestingly enough is the Italian word for clown, and the video is heavily influenced by a 1920 photo of two clowns boxing and the gorgeously cinematic black and white video that’s both beautiful and surreal.
