Jimi Hendrix may well be the greatest guitar player the world has ever known, if not the one of the most beloved artists of the last 50 years. Hendrix transformed how artists after him play the guitar – and yet Hendrix’s sound is absolutely unique. Today would have been Hendrix’s 70th birthday and in honor of the occasion, check out this live footage of Jimi Hendrix covering the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” live.  What makes this video so amazing is that Hendrix played the song two days after Sgt. Pepper was released, and that two Beatles were in the room on this night. Talk about ballsy, eh?

Happy birthday Jimi!
