Live Concert Photography: Arkells with Robert DeLong at Warsaw 10/2/23
Earlier this month I caught Hamilton, ON-based indie rock outfit Arkells play a headlining set of Bruce Springsteen-inspired anthems that had the Warsaw crowd rocking. Personally, the major standout point was a raucous and breakneck cover of Beastie Boys‘ “Sabotage,” which felt doubly fitting — we were in Brooklyn after all, and a month or so before their show, New York City officially renamed the corner of Ludlow Street and Rivington Street, Beastie Boys Square.
Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist., singer/songwriter and electronic music artist Robert DeLong opened the night with a high-energy set that saw him bouncing back between three different instrument stations to play material that sort of reminded of Howard Jones for some reason or another. (I’m a child of the 80s after all.)
