In an industry best known for being incredibly fickle, surviving five years is an achievement while surviving more than 10 years seems relatively unheard of; however, New York area emcee Cormega, not only has a lengthy 20+ year career featuring collaborations with Nas, AZ and Foxy Brown in The Firm but for a critically well-received solo career that began in earnest with the release of his eponymous, 2001 full-length debut The Realness, which featured guest spots from Mobb Deep‘s Havoc and Prodigy, Tragedy Khadafi, Sha Money XL and others. ‘Mega was at Black Bear Bar in Williamsburg to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Realness with a set comprised of songs from the album, along with guest spots from a nubmer of folks. Opening the night was Baldwin, NY-based jazz, funk, ska and hip-hop act Nonstop to Cairo, Brockton, MA-based hip-hop and soul duo Notoriety, Boston, MA-based emcee Jass Bianchi and duo NBS, young, up-and-comer Lotus Taylor and more.
