Founded in 2014, High Voltage PR is a Brooklyn-based music publicity firm, whose current client roster include Cotillion, Dead Stars, Grim Streaker, Kishi Bashi, Lou Barlow, Monograms, Overlake, Stonefield, Surfer Blood, Talay, The Bingers, Walrus and several others. Last weekend, the Brooklyn-based publicity firm, along with The Knitting Factory hosted a showcase featuring several of the publicity firm’s artists — in this case, Lost Boy?, Dead Stars, Grim Streaker and Monograms. Check out some photos below.

Initially begun as the recording project of Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Davey Jones, best known as a member of Baked, the project has expanded into a live quartet featuring a rotating cast of collaborators and friends. Whether as a solo recording project or a live quartet, the project has received attention across locally-based blogs for a sound that’s been described as lo-fi, warbled  punk that manages to be unhinged while pop-leaning.

Now, if you’ve been frequenting this site over the past few years, you’ve likely come across a small, handful of posts featuring the Brooklyn-based indie rock trio Dead Stars. With the release of their 2014 full-length debut Slumber and 2016’s Bright Colors, the trio comprised of cousins Jeff Moore (guitar, vocals) and Jaye Moore (drums) and their longtime friend John Watterburg (bass) quickly rose to both local and national attention for a sound that pairs fuzzy and grungy power chords and anthemic hooks and manages to be reminiscent of 90s grunge rock acts like Dinosaur, Jr. and others.

Comprised of Amelia Bushell (vocals), Daniel Peskin (guitar), Micah Weisberg (guitar), Bill Dvorak (bass) and Piyal Basu (drums), the New York-based quintet Grim Streaker specialize in a sound that possesses elements of New Wave, noise rock, goth, skater punk and punk rock.

Much like the night’s headliner Lost Boy?, Monograms initially began as a solo recording project that expanded into a full band featuring Ian, Mike and Chris. Since the project’s expansion into a full-fledged band, the members of Monograms have received attention for what the band has dubbed “jagged and hey psych pop sounds made for driving and swirling.” And building upon a growing profile, the band has opened for the likes of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, GøGGS (a side project featuring Ty Segall and members of JOVM mainstay Ex-CultEzra Furman, Sunflower Bean, APTBSDion Lunadon, Quilt, Dreamers, Spires and others.
