Live Music Photography: Take Me to the River Live at Brooklyn Bowl featuring William Bell, Bobby Rush, Otis Clay, Frayser Boy, Al Kapone, Jerry Harrison, The Staxx Records Band and The Staxx Music Academy All-Star Broomfield Band
February 11, 2015
Released last year, Take Me to the River was a critically applauded documentary that brought together several different generations of Memphis-based and Mississippi Delta-based musicians together to record an album and to have the older generation artists mentor contemporary artists – and in many cases, in a similar fashion to how the older generation were mentored back in their youth. But perhaps more important, it evokes something that we all inherently know: that some of the most influential and important music the modern world has known, is a very vital, living thing.
A number of the artists have been touring together, and I have to admit there’s something deeply compelling about seeing these older guys performing with guys who are young enough to be their grandkids – and both sides admiring each other.
