Lorely Rodriguez is a 23 year-old, Brooklyn-based singer and producer who writes and records under the moniker Empress Of. Her latest EP, Systems contains two songs in English, while the rest are in Spanish. The material on the album as you’ll tell from “Tristeza,” the first single from the EP is strangely (and hauntingly) beautiful and is kind of reminiscent of Kate Bush and Nelly Furtado. It’s weird but it has a pop sensibility that’s quite infectious.
