Over the past 18 months or so, give or take, I’ve spilled quite a bit of virtual ink covering British electronic outfit and JOVM mainstays H2SO4. During that same period, they’ve released a steady batch of slickly produced, club friendly bangers.
2023 has seen the release of a couple of singles:
- “Outsiders (BassBears Mix),” a sleek, Balearic house-like banger built around glistening synth arpeggios, tweeter and woofer rattling beats, enormous bass drops and euphoria-inducing hooks paired with sultrily delivered vocal sample fed through a bit of distortion.
- “Following The Line,” a wildly accessible deep house banger that subtly channels Tweekend-era The Crystal Method and Come With Us-era The Chemical Brothers.
The JOVM mainstays’ latest single “Bad Habits” continues a run of swaggering and slickly produced material but while expanding upon their sound — with the single being a seamless blend of indie electro pop and drum ‘n’ bass that wouldn’t be out of place in the Big Beat era.
