News/Announcements: Indie Rock Duo In the Valley Below to Open for Tricky for Select Dates in October
Now, if you’ve been frequenting this site over the course of this past summer, that with the release of their full-length debut The Belt, which spawned the viral hit single “Peaches,” In The Valley Below, the husband and wife duo Angela Gail and Jeffrey Jacob received international attention; in fact, “Peaches” debuted on BBC Radio 1, and saw commercial success in Germany and France — with the song once topping the French Alternative Charts. About a year after the initial release of The Belt, the duo recieved national attention with “Peaches” receiving regular rotation on American Alternative radio stations, followed by national television appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman and Conan. Thanks to the success of their debut single and full-length debut, the duo managed to build up a growing national and international fanbase with relentless touring of the European Union and US, including sets at some of the world’s biggest musical festivals — including Reading Festival, Leeds Festival, Austin City Limits, Rock En Seine and others.
The husband and wife duo’s latest EP, Elephant was released earlier this summer, and was recorded in the basement studio of the 93-year old home the couple purchased upon relocating from Los Angeles to Grand Rapids, MI. Elephant‘s first single “Bloodhands (Oh My Fever),” may arguably be among the most personal yet ambitious and politically charged song they’ve written and recorded to date — with the EP’s first single reportedly inspired by the Michael Brown shooting and the immediate aftermath in Ferguson, MO. Live, the duo’s most recent material finds the dup pairing thoughtful, political messages, love songs and others within a sound that manages to be both arena and radio friendly.
The Grand Rapids, MI-based duo will be opening for the renowned and pioneering emcee, producer and multi-instrumentalist Tricky during his North American tour to support his latest full-length effort ununiform, which is slated for release through False Idols Records/!K7 Records on Friday — and the tour will include an October 9, 2017 stop at Music Hall of WIlliamsburg.
