On March 26th, Crime and the City Solution will be releasing their first full-length album in almost twenty years, American Twilight through Mute Records. The band has relocated several times throughout their history from Melbourne Australia to London, to Berlin and their with recent relocation to Detroit, listeners should fully expect the sound on their new effort to be heavily influenced by their environs – the Melbourne period saw the band having a prominent role in that city’s post-punk/post-rock scene; the Berlin period saw the band’s sound taking on an experimental art rock scene. And in “Goddess,” the first single from American Twilight, you can hear the band’s previous sound taking on more a tribal, and deeply primal sound. Interestingly, this song does remind me quite a bit of the Church’s “Reptile” and a bit of the Cult.
