Originally formed in 2011, the Toronto, ON-based band HSY has gone through a few lineup changes before settling on their current lineup as a quartet. And with that lineup, the band holed themselves up in a studio in the outskirts of Toronto to record the material that comprises their self-titled debut EP which will be released by Buzz Records on September 17th.
With the release of the second single off their forthcoming album, “Tartar Mouth” and the previously released single have had many comparing the band to the likes of the Melvins and others for their sludgy, noisy sound – and that’s a fair comparison. But with “Tartar Mouth” which is heavy on throbbing low-end – tons of bass, dude – the track reminds me quite of P.S. I Love You, who also hail from Toronto.
