Originally hailing from my stomping grounds of Elmhurst and Corona, New York, Homeboy Sandman is probably one of contemporary hip hop’s most prolific, inventive and uncompromisingly challenging artists. As an emcee, his use of wordplay, inner rhyme on often complex subjects, reveals him as a artist you need to be aware of, if you haven’t; and if you have been aware of him, he’s likely an artist you will admire.

With “Musician” off Sandman’s latest Stones Throw Records release, All That I Hold Dear, Sandman also shows that not only is he an expert lyricist, that he is also a great storyteller – in this song, he talks about the disrespect that others tend to show hip hop artists, by not considering them musicians.
