Violinist Judy Kang is perhaps one of the few musicians in the world to have played with both Pierre Boulez and Lady Gaga. Kang is also an accomplished child prodigy – she first picked up a violin at 4 and memorized her first lesson in about half an hour, and within her first full year of playing started to win several competitions. She was 11 when she auditioned to get into the Curtis Institute of Music – with a broken wrist! – and became the school’s youngest graduate at 17. By the time she was 19, she had earned a Masters at Julliard. And adding to her accomplishments, she became one of the first to graduate with high honors of the prestigious Artist Diploma at the Manhattan School of Music. Further accomplishments include playing in Academy Award-winning composer Ryuchi Sakamoto’s trio, a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall and playing alongside the aforementioned Lady Gaga.

So Kang is releasing a solo self-tiled album on March 5th, 2013. “You,” is the first single and it melds the trip hop, woozily pretty vocals and classical violin – as some critics have rightfully described it a sounding quite a bit like Montreal’s Grimes with violins. Check it out.
