Last week, I was in Wichita, KS for the inaugural Elsewhere Festival and Conference. Created and produced by Midtopia, a Wichita-based nonprofit artist and music-worker collective striving to build new models for the music industry, Elsewhere is a not-for-profit event created to facilitate the building of community around artistic and musical endeavors.

As I mentioned in previous posts, Midtopia along with their partner Marauder invited me to be a panelist at the inaugural festival. I spoke on the risks, rewards and challenges of making a careering music. A very humbling experience,

It was a rather whirlwind trip. Our second full day in town, included a catered breakfast for the VIPs and panelists at Exploration Place, Wichita’s hands-on science center for young learners — and those young at heart.

After our breakfast, we had some time to play in the museum. Just imagine a group of mostly 30 and 40 somethings playing with random stuff at a children’s museum. The image has to make you laugh.
