Last week, the New York Liberty won their first WNBA championship in franchise history. And to celebrate the historic occasion, there was a ticker tape parade in Downtown Manhattan’s iconic Canyon of Heroes — and Heroines last week.
- The championship and the parade marked some rather historic occasions:
- It’s the first basketball championship in New York in 51 years
- It’s the first championship ticker tape parade in 5 years
- The third ticker tape parade celebrating a women’s team
- And it was the first local championship parade in 12 years — unless the Yankees change that
