Photography: The Metropolitan Museum of Art 3/1/21
Because of pandemic-related quarantines, restrictions and lockdowns, I haven’t been to a museum in about two years. Coincidentally, I had been talking to a friend about an interactive Van Gogh exhibit that’s coming to New York in June, and it sparked a desire to see the Dutch Masters — in particular, my favorites, Van Gogh and Rembrandt. I also wanted to see some African art.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see much African art. The Met was going through some extensive renovations of some exhibits that closed off portions of rooms or whole rooms entirely. I had scheduled a timed entry at 2:00pm, which left me about 3 hours to wander about. And on top of that my feet hurt. Still, being around beautiful art gave me a much-needed bit of peace.
