Singer/songwriter Laura Gibson invited some of her fellow musician friends and turned Oregon’s Smith Rock, by the banks of the Deschutes River into an impromptu recording studio, incorporating the acoustics of the cliffs, caves and the awe-inspiring visuals for this gorgeous rendition of the old spiritual, “Down by the Riverside.”  What Gibson captures through her vocals is the aching need for redemption and salvation that lies at the heart of the song.

This video is the third of a series of the Deschutes River Recordings sponsored by the Deschutes Brewery, which included members of Blitzen Trapper and Fruit Bats. For a small donation, you can download some very pretty tunes, and the proceeds go to the Deschutes River Conservancy
