Sylvan Esso is a unique collaboration between Ameila Meath of folk group Mountain Man and Nick Sanborn, the bassist in Megafaun. Sanborn uses synths and other electronics to create pulsating grooves and swirling electronic atmospherics for Heath’s gorgeous and coquettish voice. And Meath uses looping pedals to create harmonies with her own voice. And iInterestingly enough, her voice reminds me a little bit of Kalma Traver of Rubblebucket.

“Coffee” is the latest single off the duo’s forthcoming Coffee/Dress 12 inch, which will see a March 25th release through Partisan Records. And a full length debut is slated for a May 13th release. The track is a slow-burning seductive track with a  dreamy, almost distracted air, bolstered by atmospheric, swirling electronics, and ringing bells.

The duo recently recorded a live version of the song at the Wilderness Bureau, and there are two visuals that should remind you of the song’s playful nature — Amelia Heath bopping and dancing along to the music, and a someone’s cat, just chilling out.
