The members of Happy Jawbone Family Band met at  Naropa University’s Jack Kerouac School of Disembodies Poetics. And their sound which manages to mesh elements of folk, indie rock and pop music with a whimsical, joyous air but beneath the surface the band’s material thematically deals with longing, individualism, and happier endings resulting from imperfect situations – the sort of stuff that Jack Kerouac spent his life writing about.

Mexican Summer Records will be releasing the band’s forthcoming, self-titled album on October 15th, and the lead single “Everybody Knows About Daddy,” deals with an awkward situation – the narrator encountering his father wearing a dress – with a whimsical, tongue-in-cheek sense of humor.
