The Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s latest album, That’s It! marks a new development for the legendary New Orleans jazz institution’s history – it’s the first time that the band is playing original compositions. Although the material manages to pay homage to the classic sound that influences it, a song like album title track “That’s It!” sounds like a playful, raucous, stomping party.

To celebrate the new album, the band is playing a week residency at the McKittrick Hotel, and it’ll include a load of special guests joining the band. But in between all of that, the boys of Preservation Hall stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform “That’s It” live. And as Jimmy Fallon mentions as he’s introducing the band, their appearance on Fallon is the band’s first nationally televised appearance since 1976 when they made an appearance on as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. I think it’s a fun performance that should make getting through your Tuesday morning so much better.
